The first stop of the morning trip around Ho Chi Minh City will begin at Reunification Palace, also known as the Independence palace; it was built on the site of the former Norodom palace and designed by the architect Ngo Viet Thu. In 1975 a North Vietnamese army tank hit through the gate to signal the end of the Vietnam/American war, and since then the palace has become the symbol of the country’s independence. Nowadays it is referred to as one of the Ho Chi Minh City’s outstanding landmarks.
The trip will continue bringing you interesting things as you are taken to charming architectural structures dating back from the French Domination, comprising Notre Dame Cathedral and Saigon Central Post Office, followed by the remarkable site of the War Remnants Museum. This museum will amaze you at exhibits concerning the Vietnam and Indochina wars. There are massive military vehicles in the courtyard and tiger cages at a specialized zone probably bring home to you how a prisoner must suffer during the wartimes. Inside the museum, each floor will show a separate theme of the war and war crimes committed towards the Vietnamese people.
